Are my files ever uploaded to any server or cloud?

Never. FileConvert is 100% client-side. When you drop or select a file, your browser processes the bytes directly in device memory using HTML5 Canvas and pdf-lib. Zero bytes of your sensitive images or documents ever leave your phone or computer. You can verify this by turning off your internet connection—all tools will continue working normally.

Which image formats are supported for compression & conversion?

FileConvert supports all common formats including PNG, JPG/JPEG, WebP, GIF, SVG, and BMP. You can cross-convert between WebP, PNG, and JPG while choosing your exact target quality or specifying an exact target file size in kilobytes (KB).

How does client-side PDF merging work in the browser?

We use pdf-lib, an open-source binary PDF manipulation library running in browser JavaScript. It reads the raw byte streams of your PDF files, parses the page dictionary structures, copies page streams into a consolidated document, and serializes the new PDF binary directly to your local downloads without requiring backend server rendering.

Is there any file size limit?

Unlike traditional online converters that impose 5MB or 10MB limits, FileConvert has zero arbitrary server limits. The only constraint is your device’s available browser memory (RAM). Most modern smartphones and laptops easily process files up to 200MB+ in seconds.

How is performance and low INP (Interaction to Next Paint) maintained?

Heavy operations like image downsampling, quantization, and PDF byte stream packing are scheduled with asynchronous microtasks. You retain 100% ownership of all rights, titles, and interests in the files, images, and documents you process through FileConvert. Because files never leave your client device, FileConvert acquires zero rights, licenses, or access to your content. You represent and warrant that you own or have the necessary legal permissions to process your files.

4. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use FileConvert for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable local, national, or international regulations. Prohibited actions include attempting to reverse-engineer our proprietary scripts, circumventing client-side sandboxes, or utilizing automated scrapers in a manner that impairs web performance for other users.

5. Disclaimer of Warranties

FileConvert is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
